Our customers are telling of an unprecedented amount of activity in their gardens, now this may be a natural event that happens every year, or it may be because they are feeding good wholesome food that the parents want to share with their young fledglings. Of course we at British Bird Food, would like to think that our food has something to do with it! but who knows? - the fact is there are now more birds and a greater variety of species in our garden and those of our customers and in the last couple of weeks feeding has increased two fold. Most people carry on feeding, but some stop for the summer months - why? - well the only answer I can see is that they think there is enough natural food around for the birds to find, and that may be true; but in a selfish way I want to keep my birds in and around my garden, it gives us hours of pleasure, sitting out in the evening watching and listening to them around the bird feeders and the rest of the garden. Nature always manages the balance and I am positive the birds are taking in natural food from around our garden. A good example is the Robin and Thrush that are currently feeding their broods. As far as I have seen they are always taking in food from the garden to the nest. So the way we look at it is, that the feeders provide a much needed boost for the parents energy levels, and a good start for the fledglings to train on. Our message is definitely to keep on feeding right through the year, they will always be a reason why the birds will benefit from your help and of course, you benefit from seeing nature up close.
