Every five years or so, it is necessary to update a website. Mainly for security and performance reasons, to help make sure all devices can search through the website and they are all safe to do so.
The safety side of things is an automatic performance carried out by various security programmes, and to ensure a website can keep up with the latest security protection it is required to have the latest version of the operating platform it uses. In our case this is Open Cart.
We find Open Cart a good platform for our shop, it is easy for the customers to use and developers like it too. This new website we have now has the latest version of Open Cart and so we can update this version for some years to come and still keep up to date with the security requirements. Nowadays websites have to be as good to view on a mobile phone as they are on a tablet or P.C and of course this latest version of the British Bird Food website it super fast on all of these devices.
Crystal clear images are important too, customers need to scroll through the products efficiently and so a good picture is important to give first impressions.
Pages load fast and cleanly on the new website due to enhanced platform Caches, predicting and remembering what the view is looking at and we have lot a lot of the disabled products that are always in the background slowing things down.
As the years go by we will gradually collect all of the rubbish associated with a website - all of which was useful at the time! - but that becomes outdated and unnecessary but somehow never gets deleted forever, we will add slow images and typos, we will generally abuse the website (all for the right reasons:) until once again we are faced with a shiny new version and we get excited all over again!
Well, such is the life of a website - and a website owner.........
