The Squirrel Buster range of Squirrel proof bird feeders are made in Canada by Brome Birdcare and they really are the best feeders for your wild birds that will prevent the Squirrels from stealing their food. A simple spring loaded outer cage slips over the feeding aperture when any significant weight is detected on the feeder, thus preventing the access to the food, this in itself is frustrating for the Squirrels and they will get bored eventually and go and find an easier source of food (probably your neighbours!)
One advantage besides the obvious, is that there is a ventilation system built in to the inner food tube and base, this keeps the food fresher for longer and prevents damping which in tern can cause mould.
There is a Squirrel Buster for all of the food types and several sizes available for seeds.
Squirrel Buster Mini, is a reasonably priced version that feeds seeds only.
