Our Robin and Tit Food mix for wild birds is a blend of Sunflower Heart chips, granulated peanuts, mealworms and Pinhead Oat meal, just everything needed to get the young birds and the smaller wild birds in your garden off to a good start. We have resisted the temptation to re-brand the mix and call it "Fledgling mix" and charge more money for it - the fact is the birds know what is good for them, it is not about sales revenue, it is the birds that matter and if one mix does more than one job, all well and good - that is what we say!
Feeding wild birds is a joy throughout the year, but during breeding season, (March to October) then we are treated to the most beautiful sights of young birds and their parents coming to our wild bird feeding stations and eating their fill. It is important to feed wild birds as they do suffer from depleting habitat and less natural food at different times of the year, not only during the cold snowy Winter months, but also during hot dry spells in the summer too, this is when we make sure we supply fresh water as well as food for the birds in our gardens. A bird bath or drinker (or both) will provide the birds with respite and thirst quenching activity that they enjoy taking part in and we enjoy watching. Yesterday a couple of Starlings were in our bird bath in the wildlife meadow and they were making a big splash! for about three or four minutes we stood and watched them playing in the water - just a joy to watch.
