Here at British Bird Food, we pack every order freshly. As the orders come in 24 hours a day, we save them up and pack all in one go in the morning. So if you place an order at 10am, it will be packed within two hours and ready for the courier to collect and generally delivered to your door the next working day - now that is fresh!
Our returnable packaging also plays a part in keeping your bird food fresh for longer. If you open a bag of bird seed the air has an effect on the seeds, it takes a long time, but if the seeds are in an open bag or sack, then it will not keep as long as if it were an air tight container. Our returnable bags are air tight and have special perforations to allow air out but not in this means that when we pack the bird seeds for you all of the air is extracted from the bag and it is sealed so when you receive the product it will be ready to store for at least six months. When you start using the bird food you only open one bag at a time and it can be re-sealed to keep the freshness retained as long as possible.
No one likes eating stale bread, so why expect to get the best from your garden birds if you are not feeding fresh bird food?
Once you have finished with all of the bags, save them up and send a good few back in one postage - this is to keep costs down and uses less fuel in the Post Office journey back to us. When we get the bags back through the free post system, Mark, our local postman drops them in over the gate each morning and we check them to make sure they are ok to re-send. We do get some that are not fit to go out again but most are sent back in good condition and folded in half within one of the bags. We then take the bags and re-use them straight away, so they are put through the packing process and on their way back out again within an hour or the next day latest.
Now, that is what we at British Bird Food mean when we say fresh is best, we doubt if any other bird food company in the UK can claim to supply tier customers with a fresher, more environmentally friendly product than that from British Bird Food.
