Our seasonal range of wild bird food is always popular and whether you want to feed the same mix all year round or if you prefer to feed the appropriate mix according to the time of year, then British Bird Food seasonal range of wild bird mixes is just the ticket.
Our Autumn mix is full of all the nutrition and fibre the birds need to recover from the breeding season and prepare for the Winter months ahead. Suet pellets, fruit, granulated peanuts and lots of Sunflower Hearts in amongst the 14 types of seed in the mix.
Some birds are still feeding their young (that is why we should not be cutting hedges yet) and so they will have very little time to recover and prepare for the Winter, so if we have a harsh Winter or an early cold snap then this is why the wild birds need to prepare. Our resident Robin at the shop is feeding every day on Suet Pellets and he is still feeding young in the nest, so hopefully they will all be in good shape for the Winter, but I have to say, he came for food on Friday morning and it was raining, he did look a sorry state, wet through and scruffy feathers, it brings it home to you just how precarious these 7 to 10 gram birds lives are, they can change in a day from healthy to near death just because of environmental changes and lack of food.
