Stop bird strikes on windows

Window alert decals are a highly effective method of preventing birds flying into your windows and causing injury - or worse.

Window alert decals are made from a material that reflects ultra violet light and birds are sensitive to UV and so they see a flash of light and veer away from it, thus avoiding the window. As far as us humans are concerned the UV light is below our colour spectrum and therefore all we see is a translucent patch on the glass, that is not obtrusive to us, yet the birds will see it very clearly. The window alert decals are made with a static like material that means they can be put on and off the glass without any other means of sticking them to it, so if you want to put them on the inside of the glass and take them down for cleaning this is fine. They can also be used in the same way on the outside of the glass. Each window alert decal is designed to be effective for approximately one square meter, so a pack of four will cover a double patio door for example. The reason many of the birds fly into the windows is because they think they are flying through a tunnel, for example, if they can see through the window and through another window on the other side of the room / house, then it looks like they can fly straight through and this is why they hit the window so hard. Another reason is that there is a reflection on the glass, possibly the sky or clouds and so this disguises the glass and again the birds hit it hard enough to damage themselves. The window alert decals give a bright UV reflective light for about two years, so they should be replaced roughly every two years, as we can not see when they are less effective, it is a good idea to write the date one one of them, so you can replace them at the right time. At £6.95 for four decals, lasting two years, it is good value if it saves the pain and injury to your garden birds.
